All of your programs are gone, any media you imported or captured, The only issue once recovery has been accomplished is you are quite literally exactly back where you were the very first time you powered up your machine straight from the shipping carton.

You for the replacement and refund your money only after you've sent the defective drive back. The drive failure under warranty is usually a depot or return to factory arrangement, unless you can convince them you have the skills needed to perform the drive replacement yourself, and they'll usually charge

So, HP, as a service to their customers makes full replacement media available for a nominal fee, the goal here is to keep costs as low as possible (in order to maximize profit which is perfectly understandable) in the event there recovery partion is corrupted Many manufacturers include a hidden recovery partion as mentioned by Barb, and provide prompts to the user to create a backup set of that recovery (factory fresh)ĭata in case the drive fails, ruining the recovery information itself. What I HAVE heard of is HP providing replacement media for their entire system as shipped. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I'd be surprized. I've never heard of Media Center replacement media. I think there might be some confusion here. Either support your products are stop selling them.Īny recommendations and/or possible solution will be appreciated.in the meantime, OEM buyers and Windows Media Center users beware!!!! I am willing to purchase the necessary disks, but I have caught between two vendors, with each denying any responsibility. I have been at this problem for three weeks!!! I have visited numerous forums and received and tested numerous possible solutions without any luck.
#Media center os partition for windows 7 professional
Trying to get professional assistance from either Microsoft or HP is very frustrating and thus far practically impossible!!! My patience for neither accepting responsiblity for their product is very short. So here I am.with a quasi-useless system (windows media center) in which neither Microsoft or HP will assume any responsibility.Īll I want is for the Windows Media Center to perform as advertised!!! So I call HP.sure enough, they say, it is Microsoft software, so I need to purchase the Windows Media Center Replacement disk from Microsoft. Microsoft tells me that since I purchased a OEM system with HP add-ons, I need to go to HP for the Windows Media Center replacement disk and Win7, home edition, disk. So I called Microsoft to obtain (purchase if necessary) a Windows Media Replacement disk and a WIN7, home edition, disk. I saw after an Internet Search than they were available. Nowadays when you purchase an OEM system, there are no installation disks.at least not with this HP system I purchased a HPE -240f in June 2010 and for a couple months the Windows Media Center functioned OK however, for the last month or so, no luck.
